The course

The sensibilisation course is an 8-hour classroom course, mandated by the Confederation and required to obtain your driving licence for categories A1, A, B1, and B. It doesn’t cover the theory test, but focuses on you: your hazard perception, your attitude behind the wheel, the influence of speed, fatigue, alcohol, and distractions.

Spread over 2 days, it teaches you to examine dangerous situations and adopt responsible driving, for your safety and that of others. Its certificate, recognized by FEDRO, is required before the practical test, and since 01.01.2021 it no longer expires: you can take it early, without worrying about it running out.

Who is it for

All driving licence candidates, car and motorcycle (categories A1, A, B1, and B), who have already obtained their learner's permit. Since the certificate no longer expires, it's best to take this course early: what you learn helps from your very first driving lessons.

Is the sensibilisation course mandatory?

Do I need my registration number?

Yes. When booking, note the registration number on your learner's permit: we need it to register you for the course. An illustration shows you where to find it.

What changes in 2027?

The course officially becomes the traffic theory course (CTC) and will include driver assistance systems. Most importantly, from January 1, 2027, you'll need to have completed it before you can register for the theory test. Taking it early remains the best strategy.
